    Dr Vini Kumar:
Dr Kumar is an Eye Surgeon and her illustrated talk was brilliant. She told us about the structure of the eye, the sort of problems people can experience (especially age-related problems), and how they are treated.  A fascinating. We even got to meet Dr Kumar's parents - a real pair of charmers.

 John Mugridge, our own member, will talk about his career with Cops and Spooks. John started as a Bobby with Nottingham City Police and ended up as Head of Security and Counter-Intelligence with DSD (Defence Signals Directorate).

BBQ lunch at the Hamer Arboretum, Chalet Rd. , Olinda. Following the success of last year's BBQ we did it again, and we had a ball.
Mind you, the tourists seemed a bit surprised at this bunch of "mature age" folks hurling paper aeroplanes around the place, but hey - - - !

2.30 p.m. Afternoon Tea on Puffing Billy's "Devonshire Journey" at special offer price of $35 pp. It rained like B, but it was still kind of intersting to ride the old train again. Photos in the gallery.

GOLD MUSEUM TOUR
Tour of the Gold Museum in the City. Now this was an interesting tour - seeing places like the room where the Governor in Council still meets. The audio visual displays in the vault gave an insight into the impact on Victoria of the gold rush (and how brief it was). Photos in the gallery.

The clinical trial co-ordinator from Eastern Health, will be talking about Diabetes. This was a very informative and lively discussion of diabetes - causes, symptoms, prognosis etc.

Gary Schiffer - about the Sydney Hobart yacht race. An inspiring bloke is Gary, who has had a distinguished yacht racing career with some of the biggest names in racing (as well as a distinguished career with the Victoria Police). He also disclosed his personal struggle with cancer and his never-give-up attitude to it.

We walk half way round then cut onto Dorset Road and go to The Chocolate Shop near the corner of Dorset and Eastfield Road for coffee. Meet at Kalorama Lookout at 9.10am and car pool to Dorset Golf Course located at the foot of Trawalla Road, Croydon. (Off Mt Dandenong Road - Melways 51 D5

JOHNSTON COLLECTION
10:30 - 2 pm . Car pool to Boronia, followed by train to city. Then on to the "Hilton on the Park" where we would then be transported to the Johnson Collection. This includes a tour of the house in the morning and then the gallery in the afternoon. Cost $47.00 (includes lunch). (should have been paid already though)
